Sinhagad Fort

Sinhagad fort is located about 25 km away from the city of Pune. Maratha Empire used to control the fortress. The exact date of the construction of the fort is not available but according to some of the artifacts extracted from the fort suggests that it could be at least 2000 years old. The fort was previously known as the Kondhan. It has witnessed many battles but the most notable one was the battle of Sinhagad in 1670.

The panoramic view from the top of the fort is scenic and breathtaking. There can be a sudden drizzle of water which makes the view even better. You can even see clouds drifting between the hills. The best time to visit would be June to February i.e. rainy and winter season. This is when you can see the greenery around the place. You can plan a picnic with your friends and family and have fun at this historic site. You can also trek straight up to the top which is a rocky path. Trek lovers can go early in the morning when the place is less crowded. There are various food options around the place.
