The Brindavan Gardens of Mysore spread over 60 acres is undoubtedly one of the best terrace gardens in the world. The beautifully landscaped Brindavan Gardens, located at a distance of 12 km from the city of Mysore, is a three-terraced garden and is a celebrated beauty spot. It is world-famous for its symmetric design and is one of the most beautifully laid out terrace gardens in the whole world. Close to 2 million tourists visit the place per year making the garden one of the major tourist attractions of the city.

The place was founded by the man with an affection for gardens, Sir Mirza Ismail, the Deewan of Mysore; the place was built in 1932. Inspired by the design of the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir in the Mughal style, the garden radiates grandeur and beauty and is enriched with several terraces, fountains, cascading water channels, flower beds, shrubs, trees, dense green lawns, and pergolas, gazebos and it also has topiary works. The place has botanical gardens and a lake within the garden offers boating facilities to the visitors. The musical fountain in which choreographed acts of water bursts are synchronized with the tunes of the music and songs is one of the biggest attractions of the place. The Brindavan Gardens presents a perfect entrance as there are rose gardens on both sides of the main gate.

There are many fountains in the garden like the inverted basketball fountain and the cross-channel fountain, etc. The garden is located near the Krishnarajasagara Dam (KRS dam) built across the river Kaveri. There is also a children’s park for the kids to have fun. It is best to visit in the evening as one can see the beautiful music and sound show and the illuminated fountains.
