Known for serving the famous hot and crispy Mylari Dosa, Vinayaka Mylari Hotel in Mysore is an iconic and popular restaurant among the people of Mysore. It is a gem of a restaurant and known to have opened 80 years ago, this place serves incredible, finger-licking idli and dosa, including the legendary Mylari Dosa as well as the Mysore Masala Dosa.

Mysore’s favorite dish, the Mylari Dosa is the softest dosa that has ever existed and in addition, it is served with a big dollop of white butter on its top. The Vinayaka Mylari Hotel is famous as it is the only place to have originally made the dosa. It is a cozy six–table eatery and only has a total of five items on its menu including the Mylari Dosa, Masala Dosa, and idli. They sell around 200 idlis every day and it goes up to 300 on a weekend. The dosas are round and folded in half with butter on top. They also serve fresh white coconut chutney on the side. The chutney is of good quality and the
dosas are very crispy yet very soft. There is very limited seating in the hotel as it is very small. There are more than 4 hotels by the same name in Mysore but the ones on Nazarbad main road are the original ones. The Vinayaka Mylari Hotel closes around 1:30 PM during prime lunch hours and reopens again at 3 PM and people do adjust their meals to enjoy these deliciously soft and buttery dosas.

Although the Vinayaka Mylari Hotel has very limited seating, the joint is always overcrowded. The place also serves their Kashi Halwa which a sticky and sweet interpretation made from ash gourd.
