Banganga Tank is a large rectangular water tank which is surrounded by steps that lead to the water. The site is part of the Walkeshwar Temple in Malabar Hills, Mumbai. The tank has still water and the center is a wooden post with an orange flag on it. Many people believe that the wooden post is a marker from the gods and also that the water there is from Ganga, the most sacred water body for Hindus. According to some legends, Lord Rama shot an arrow and gave birth to the water body.
The place is a bliss between the chaos of Mumbai. It is extremely peaceful. The Tank is huge and gives feels as though you are in a village rather than the bustling city of Mumbai. The tank is lit with diyas during festivities which make for a beautiful site. You can plan your visit around festivals to witness this beautiful sight!
